Melba Sykes, a loving mother and grandmother, entered into eternal rest on December 3, 2025, in her hometown of Monroe, Louisiana. Born on February 14, 1963, Melba's life was a celebration filled with warmth, laughter, and indomitable spirit.

From the early days in Monroe, Melba's personality shone brightly. She was determined and headstrong, always ready to embark on new adventures. Her vibrant presence guaranteed that it would be party time whenever she walked into a room. With her infectious energy, she created an atmosphere of joy, making even the simplest gatherings memorable. Every grandchild wanted to visit their beloved Mimi, eager for the fun-filled days spent in her embrace.

Melba's love radiated through her relationships. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Sharon Bailey and her wife Angela.; and her husband, Michael Sykes. The bond she shared with her family was made even more special by her siblings, whom she adored: her sister, Lori Iles and her husband Richard; and her brothers, James Hall and his wife Suzanne, William Hall and his wife Kim, and Grady Hall and his wife Terri. Each of them shares memories of laughter, love, and support that have shaped their lives.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Bryan Sykes, Evan Cook, Ava-Marie Cook, Alexzandra Tanner-Bailey, Niklaus Bailey, Shannon and Kayleigh Bailey, and Christopher Bailey. They carry her spirit forward, cherishing the beautiful moments they shared with her.

Melba was greeted in heaven by those who left this world before her: her beloved sisters, Lawanna Lowery and Brenda Abney; her mother, Mary Irene Hall; and her father, James B. Hall.

Melba Sykes will forever be remembered for her loving spirit, her unwavering determination, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her legacy of love will continue to guide her family, each sharing stories that brighten their hearts and celebrate the incredible life she led.
