Funeral Services for Myra Joyce Smith, 93, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, July 20, 2025 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Ricky Bonnett officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Calhoun.

Myra Joyce Anthony Smith began her journey home to meet our Lord on July 17, 2025. She was born on October 15, 1931 in Carson, MS to Frank and Leona (Jones) Anthony. Mom was raised on a small farm in Franklin Parish, LA along with her brother and sister and helped in the family enterprise, even picking cotton during harvest time. Although meager in material wealth, the family was rich in life, love, happiness and friends.

Myra attended business school in Monroe and later worked in a law office. In October 1953, she married Melvin Lee (M.L.) Smith and they made their home in South Monroe. Mom worked outside the home until her son, Myron and daughter, Melanie was born, when she became a full time at home mother.

Mom spent the better part of the last 27 years tending to her home in Calhoun, LA. For the past two years, she and her daughter Melanie were at home together in Calhoun. Mom loved the Lord and read her bible daily. She led her children to the Lord, and her faith never faltered.

Myra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen; brother, Talmadge; and her husband, M.L. Smith.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Myron Smith and wife, Artie; daughter, Melanie McCune and husband, Jack; grandsons, Jacob and wife, Tyler and Brandon; and great-granddaughters, Mila and Madeline.

Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until service time on Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
