Nancy Lee Alexander Lenard, 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born on August 24, 1954, in Monroe, Louisiana; the daughter of the late Mack Alexander and Leona Deason Alexander.

Nancy was a sweet, loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She attended West Monroe High School and from there her career was spent largely in the beauty industry where she was the co-owner of the Mill Street Salon.

She loved her animals, especially her two Dobermans, Hiney and Draper. They were her special babies and protectors. Once on a street one afternoon in Baton Rouge those dogs chased a man straight up a pole that were attempting to rob Nancy. All Nancy had to say was Hiney Draper and they would obey. Nancy loved and cherished her dogs. Nancy’s other love was her love for painting, she was an incredible artist. She never sold any of her work, but she should have it was her greatest joy. Her favorite paintings were of the Old South in Louisiana, they were just amazing.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Mackie Alexander Avant; niece, Jennifer Avant Bryant (my precious daughter who brought Nancy and I together again); sister-in-law, Tina Smith Alexander; niece, Rae Lynn Alexander Worsham; nephew, Brian Alexander; as well as many cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.

She will be met at Heaven’s Gates by her mother; niece, Amy Avant; and big brother, Ray Alexander; as well as countless family and friends.

Nancy, we will keep you close to our hearts, and “knew you were loved.” We’ll be watching for red birds, rainbows, and beautiful butterflies and know you are close by. I love you, Big Sis Mackie
