Obituary

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Nick Fontana, 64, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Monroe with The Rev. officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Mulhearn Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00PM.

Nick was born in Monroe, LA, on July 6, 1961, and went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2026, in Monroe. He was a three-sport athlete in high school, excelling in football and baseball. He attended Northeast Louisiana University and was a walk-on for the NLU football team, now the University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks, for one season. He remained an avid supporter of the Warhawks throughout his life and could often be found in the stands cheering them on, coordinating the Johnny’s Pizza stand for many years, and serving as an ambassador for Johnny’s at social and business events.

Nick retired after 42 years with Johnny’s Pizza, where he served as Market Manager for the better part of his career. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing with friends and family. Above all else, Nick loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Some of his happiest moments were spent making memories with them at Caney Lake and other area waterways, cruising together on the family pontoon, as well as taking family beach trips to Alabama’s Gulf Coast.

Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Angeleen Fontana; father, Julius Fontana; and sister, Gina Fontana.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Heather Fontana Foster (Taylor), Megan Gooden (Garrett), and Anna Claire Cooper; grandchildren, Levi Nicholas Gooden, Annleigh Grace Cooper, Ellie James Cooper, and Slade Mitchell Cooper; brothers, Don Fontana and Mark Fontana; sister, Juliet McRorey (Doug); and niece, Christin Weatherly; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers will be S.J. Fontana, Jason Fontana, Joey Prejean, Toby Paxton, Keith “Bo” Pepper, and Melvin Delacerda. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug McRorey, Roy Arthur, Jessie Parker and Ronald Parker.

Memorials may be made to Pilots for Patients.
