Funeral services for John Alton Nickelson, Jr., 73, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 21, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Dr. Tim Neustifter officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Nickelson passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 after a short illness. A graduate of Northeast Louisiana State College, John served as a pharmacist and administrator at E.A. Conway Hospital. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, walking, attending Neville football games, umpiring baseball, spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with all his friends.

Mr. Nickelson was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Sue Crotwell Nickelson and parents, John Alton and Elma Pepper Nickelson.

Survivors include son, Lance Nickelson and wife Laura; grandson, Thomas Nickelson; granddaughter, Katheryne Nickelson; son, Vance Nickelson and wife Jennifer; granddaughter, Addie Nickelson; grandson, Cade Nickelson; and sister, Sarah Woods of Meridian, MS.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Nickelson, Jim Crotwell, Reagan Crotwell, Napoleon Sturdivant, John Smith and John Forsell.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the funeral home.
