Otis E. Peterson Jr.

Otis E. Peterson, Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, Papaw, and friend passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on July 7, 1945, in Winnfield, LA. 

 Otis graduated from Winnfield High School in 1963. He went on to graduate from LSU in 1968 and later received his master’s degree from the University of Missouri in 1973. 

 While pursuing his career in civil engineering, he met Ginger Lynn Grigg, and they later married on May 25, 1974. Otis’ passion was serving the Lord and his family. His love for the outdoors was shared with his sons, Daniel and Michael. Numerous stories of adventures on fishing and duck hunting trips will live on through the generations. 

 Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Peterson, Sr. and Ola Gibbs Peterson and his brother, William Peterson. 

 Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Ginger Grigg Peterson; son, Daniel Edward Peterson and wife, Chelsea; son, Michael Otis Peterson and wife, Taylor; grandchildren, Marie Sawyer Peterson, Sadie Larke Peterson, Stella Ruth Peterson, and Jack Taylor Peterson; and his sister, Lola Jean Peterson. 

 Visitation will be held at Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Greg Clark officiating. 

 \The family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, Yankee Springs Church Cemetery Fund, or a charity of your choice. Your support will help honor Otis’ legacy of compassion. 

 Otis will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, and the love he shared will continue to inspire us. “He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much.” 

 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
