It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy Jean Sellers Chapman. Peggy passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born on July 29, 1941, in Forest, Louisiana and passed away on June 18, 2025, in West Monroe, Louisiana. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 4:00PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, Louisiana with Brother Joseph Schwartz and Brother Cecil Herrington officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 2:30PM until service time on Sunday. Interment will immediately follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana.

Peggy was raised in Transylvania, Louisiana where she attended Transylvania Elementary School and graduated from Lake Providence High School in 1959. After high school, she furthered her education at Draughon’s Business College in Jackson, Mississippi, where she graduated with a business degree. Following college, Peggy moved to Monroe, Louisiana in 1960, and went to work as a secretary to the store manager at Sears. While Peggy was working at Sears in 1960, she met the love her life, Aubrey “Buck” Chapman, who she had been married to for 64 years.

Peggy was very active in Louisiana 4-H, Home Demonstration Club, her Southern Ladies’ Tea Room, and Log Cabin Arts and Crafts. Peggy was a faithful member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and West Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a part of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Peggy was a devoted Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Peggy had a lot of hobbies including cooking, sewing, quilting, crafting, and travelling in their RV around the United States, covering 49 of the 50 states.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Junious and Mae Sellers, son, Reggie Chapman, brother, Billy Sellers and wife Ann, sister, Janice McVay and husband G.W. Peggy leaves behind her husband, Aubrey “Buck” Chapman, her children, Michael Chapman and wife Ann, Richard Chapman and wife Dixie, Cindy Peacock and husband Daniel. Grandchildren Jamie Chapman, Allen Chapman and wife Kayla, Mallory Wood and husband Zachary, Cody Griffin, and Allie Chapman. Great grandchildren, Kaceton, Aubree, Cole, Noah, and Nora, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Peacock, Ted Johnson, Andy Johnson, Ty Titus, Daryl Johnson, and Zachary Wood.

On behalf of the family, we would like to say thank you to Elara Hospice employees, especially Katie, Destiny, Tamla, David, and Jamie for your kindness and compassion. We cannot thank our mother and Granny’s sitter, Anna Rose Broussard, enough for countless hours of caring and loving our mother and Granny. Rose has not only been a sitter and friend, but more like family.
