Pernie Ivie

Pernie “Ivie” Davis Walden of West Monroe went to be with her Lord on June 5, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on September 24, 1936, in Booneville, MS. Ivie was the eleventh of twelve children and last surviving sibling. She deeply missed and cherished the memory of her parents and siblings.
On December 25, 1955, she married her soldier, James O’dene Walden, and began a life supporting him throughout his Air Force career. She also built a career in bookkeeping at the Mississippi University for Women Federal Credit Union. Ivie faithfully served for many years at Christian Community Ministries and found great joy and purpose in her work there. Growing up as a farmer's daughter, Ivie had a lifelong love of gardening.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James O'dene Walden; parents, Charlie & Lesley Davis; and her siblings: Gernice, Garvis, Foice, Verma, Vera, Edith, Willodean, Edward, Beverly, Evelyn and Jimmy.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Vickie Boleware and Pattie Diaz (Tony); her grandchildren, Richard Boleware (Dr. Becca), Jonathan Boleware (Alison), Dr. Charlton Diaz (Dr. Juri) and Hannah Samsel (Dr. Jonmichael); and her great-grandchildren, Tristan, James, Liam, Donna, Ruby, Hank, Everly, JonLuke, and Shepherd.
Burial will be at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA. The family will gather for a graveside service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Operation Heal Our Patriots, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.
