Visitation will be from 12:00PM until service time at Lakeshore Baptist Church.

Phyllis Cullum Robinson was born on Sept. 2, 1943, to Dovie and Tom Cullum. She passed on Sept. 24, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home. Phyllis was one of 7 children. She was raised in Tensas Parish by parents who taught them the value of faith, family, and hard work. She carried these values with her throughout her life.

After marrying her high school sweetheart, she and Johnny moved to Monroe, where she graduated from NLU in Accounting, worked for various Oil and Gas Companies in the area, and then later for Century Tel.  They lived and raised their three boys Kenny, Tommy, and Chris in Monroe.  She was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved her church and church family dearly.

Phyllis was the perfect “boy mom.” She was always involved in Kenny, Chris and Tommy’s school and extra activities. Whether it was scouting, teaching P.E. at their school, volunteering in the church nursery and church events, playing pitch with them in the backyard, or attending their sporting events, her boys and Johnny were her life. She also became the perfect grandmother and her grandchildren adored her as well. Their wants and needs became her priority. She and Johnny even started and coached the first high school girls tennis team for two of their granddaughters. They spent many selfless hours fundraising, coaching, making sure equipment and courts were top-notch, and driving the girls to matches and clinics.

Phyllis knew and loved the game of tennis almost as much as she loved her family. She was a former member of the U.S.T.A. Sr. Women’s National Tennis Team. Her teammates respected her so much that they voted her Most Valuable Player that year. To know Phyllis was to love her, and she cherished the many friends she made through work, church, and tennis.

Although later in life Parkinson’s robbed Phyllis of her strength and mobility, she never once lost her faith in God or questioned his plan.  She continued to love life and live it to its fullest. She is truly an inspiration to all of us who had the honor of knowing her and we are better because she was a part of our lives. We will miss her immeasurably. Until we meet again Phyllis, Sis, mom, grandma, and friend.
