Rafaela "Lil" Jeter

October 24, 1934 — April 22, 2025

Rafaela “Lil” Jeter of Monroe, Louisiana passed away peacefully April 22, 2025, her loving son, Doyle, by her side. Born October 24, 1934, in Manhattan, New York to Jennie and Enrique Rodriguez, she was sister to, now deceased, Henry, Jennie and Manny and survived by brother Jose Jimenez (Maria Clemencia) of Caracas, Venezuela. Her biological father, passing shortly after her birth, Lil’s loving Dad became Ignacio Jimenez.

Lil was married to Perry C. Jeter for 51 years. Having met in New York City when Perry was in the United States Navy, the couple became parents to Enoch Doyle and Mary Ann. They lived in New York City, Erdenheim and Warminster, Pennsylvania, Jena, Ferriday, West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana.

Though a resident of Louisiana for over 50 years, Lil maintained her “New York accent.” She loved her birthplace and was proud of her Spanish and Italian heritage. She was a loyal and giving friend, a faithful Catholic and a fun-filled grandmother. She faced physical adversity with strength and determination, committed to maintaining her inspirational independence for as long as possible.

She will be missed by many, most especially her immediate family. Son, Enoch Doyle Jeter and his wife, Yvette. Mary Ann Moon and her husband Jay, grandchildren, Molly Jeter McCullar (Tim) Eric Newton (Heather) and John Jeter (Jennifer) eight great grandchildren, one great, great grandson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks and gratitude to the staff and leadership at the Gardens of Georgia Tucker, Louisiana Hospice, Med Nurses, and her private sitters. The compassionate care they so graciously, patiently, and kindly administered was a comfort to Lil and her family.

A private, family mass will be held at St. Paschal Catholic Church, West Monroe, Louisiana followed by interment at Hasley Cemetery where she will be placed next to her beloved Perry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Vincent De Paul, 502 Grammont Street, Monroe, Louisiana, St. Paschal Catholic Church, 711 North 7th Street, West Monroe, Louisiana or the National Federation of the Blind, nfb.org.
