Ramona Sharlene Caples McCollum, 80, of Sterlington LA, passed away peacefully at the Northeast War Veterans Home on February 8, 2026. Graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.

Ramona was born in West Monroe LA, on February 8, 1946. She graduated from West Monroe High School and worked for Woolworths in Monroe, where she met her husband of 60 years. Ramona had a wonderful ministry on the telephone, always checking on friends and family to make sure they were all well. She loved working with the church and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.

Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Caples and Elizabeth Marsh Caples; sisters, Linda Caples Matthews Chapman and Camilla Caples.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Ray McCollum; children, Sheree Maurer (Ron) and Fanci Smith (Mark); three grandchildren, Stuart Maurer (Sabriana), Ciara Hendricks (Jimmy), and Joshua Smith; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews along with a host of friends.

Ramona will be remembered for her strong faith in Jesus, her love of Southern Gospel Music, and her exceptional cooking skills. She loved her family so much and we will miss her smile and laughter. Ramona was a true treasure to have in our lives.
