Rick Crandall was born on June 11, 1951, to Fred and Elaine Crandall in Pensacola, Florida. After a long illness, Rick went home to his Jesus on December 15, 2025.
Prior to being ordained as a Baptist minister, Rick was a contract negotiator for the United States Air Force and an educator for Ouachita Parish Schools. It was his career as a teacher that first brought Rick to Louisiana in 1973, a move that, on all accounts, was divinely appointed. A self-proclaimed atheist at the time, Rick heard God speak to him one night, saying, “God wants you in Louisiana.” That moment changed not only the course of his life but also the lives of countless others. Due to the lived testimonies of members of McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana, Rick came to accept Christ as his Savior in 1975. In 1983, he followed God’s call into full-time ministry. For 36 years, Rick faithfully served the members of McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana; Emmanuel Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana; and Grayson Baptist Church in Grayson, Louisiana. He also served in interim and supply pastoral roles for congregations throughout Northeast Louisiana. His life and legacy reflect servant leadership, humility, and unwavering faith. Undoubtedly, among the first words Rick heard as he stood before his Savior were, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His family and friends will miss him deeply, but they find comfort knowing he is finally healed and, most of all, finally home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elaine Crandall, his sister, Jane Samples, his brother, Jon Crandall, and his son, Eric Crandall.
Rick is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-one years, Mary Radcliffe Crandall; his daughters, Becky Crandall and Katie Bonnette and husband, Wesley; and two grandchildren, John Luke and Mary Katherine Bonnette; sister, Leslie Crabtree (Jack); brother, Bill Crandall (Cecilia); nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Pallbearers are Steve Berry, Wade Bishop, Wesley Bonnette, Buddy McGough, George Seacrist, and Clyde Self. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Bonnette, Bobby Kerrigan, Jerry Meredith, Lyn Meredith, Toby Southerlin, and Toby Truex.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
