Funeral services celebrating the life of Riley Eugene “Butch” McMillan, 81, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Dr. Bart McMillan officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.
Riley Eugene “Butch” McMillan was born on July 19, 1943, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in West Monroe, Louisiana.
He was affectionately known as “Butch” by all who knew him. He was a husband, father, pawpaw, brother, friend, and a devout Christian man. He was a member of First West Baptist Church in West Monroe. Mr. McMillan graduated NLU with a bachelor’s degree in business. Before his retirement, he was a very successful insurance salesman. Butch was also an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time outdoors with his family. He also coached youth baseball, football, and softball and left a lasting impact on all the boys and girls he coached over the years. Butch was also a talented musician and played bass guitar in the Steel River Band and several other groups. Butch was a United States Airforce veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was also the program director at the Boys and Girls Club for many years. Butch was a man who left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Whether through his kindness, wisdom, or infectious laughter, he brought warmth and joy to the lives he touched. His presence was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire and uplift. May his legacy of love and generosity live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rollie and Lena McMillan; brothers, Carl McMillan and Roy “Rip” McMillan; and sister, Barbara McMillan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-seven years, Sharon McMillan; daughters, Traci McMillan-Olivo and Michelle McMillan Hipp and husband, Joey; son, Ryan McMillan and wife, Amy “Aumy”; granddaughters, Alicia Peters and husband, Garrett, Mallori Gardner and wife, Gabby, and Leighton McMillan “Leighty-Bug”; grandson, Jacob Hipp; sister-in-law, Sandra McMillan; sister, Bonnie Leist; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
The pallbearers will be Joey Hipp, Garrett Peters, Kim Olson, Josh Long, Danny McMillan, and Phillip McMillan.
The honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bedgood and William Guyton.
