Memorial service for Mrs. Rita Fontenot McCowin, 73, of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe with Dr. Jarrett Fix officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. McCowin was born on January 4, 1952, in Baytown, TX, and passed away on December 8, 2025, in Farmerville, LA.
Rita was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by love and devotion. She was known for her remarkable talent in cooking and baking, a gift she shared generously with her family. She treasured time with her siblings and found joy in traveling with her husband.
Above all, Rita dedicated her life to caring for her family. She instilled in her children the lasting values of faith, family, and hard work. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bobby McCowin; parents, John Robert and Fannie Lou McDonald Fontenot; mother-in-law, Myrtle McCowin; sister, Karen Sue Lagendyk; and sister-in-law, Elaine Tapley.
Survivors include her loving children, Stacey Cordell (Stephen), Ashley Fesette (Kyle), Blake McCowin (Teah); grandchildren, Gage Fesette (Logan), Cailey Chase (Levi), Addison Phillips (Jo), Teegan Fesette, Kaylen McCowin, Amelia McCowin, Joshua McCowin and Cutter McCowin; one great-grandchild, Emyrsyn Grace Pelto; sister, Joyce Elaine Brunson and her husband David; and brother, Billy Dan Tapley.
