A memorial service will be held for Robert L. (Bob) Carter Thursday, June 6, 2024 in the Chapel Mausoleum of Mulhearn's Memorial Park Cemetery, 623 Hwy 80 E., Monroe, La.  There will be brief visitation at 10:00AM followed by the service at 10:30AM. 

Mr. Carter was born Oct. 6, 1937 in New Orleans, La. and passed away at his residence on June 1, 2024.    Mr. Carter attended NLU while working as a night watchman at Brown Paperbag Company in West Monroe, La.  He earned a business degree and moved on to become National Sales manager for Manville Corporation.  Mr. Carter was a longtime member of the Lions Club and actively participated in the Cub Sight program.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting antiques and coins.  He was extremely knowledgeable in the history of firearms which he enjoyed sharing with friends and family.  His grandchildren were the joy of his life.  Papaw will be greatly missed.   

 Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Olga Carter and his wife of 23 year, Sue A. Carter.   Survivors include his son, Robert L. Carter, Jr. (Cheryl Macias), Daughters Tammy Lucas, Lesley Carter, Mary Lynn Carter Robinson, Nicole Carter Schilling (Stephen), 6 grandchildren, Zachary Carter, Carter Robinson, Isabel Robinson, Ava Ann, Eleanor Lynn, and William Schilling.  

 The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for the years of wonderful care provided by Dr. Keith Calhoun, the late Dr. Emile Barrow, the wonderful staff at Elara Caring Home Health, especially his long-time aid Mary Potter who took extra special care of Dad for several years.  

Robert, Tammy, Mary Lynn, and Nicole would like to thank their sister for being Dad’s primary caregiver for the past several years during his declining health. Lesley, We are grateful that you were able to take care of Dad full-time which allowed him to live comfortably at home during his end of life journey.  With all our love, Thank you!  

Mr. Carter was a supporter of the Pilots for Patients program.  In remembrance of him, the family asks that donations be made to the wonderful organization in memory of our father.
