Robert "Bob" Lynn Kilpatrick

Air Force veteran, teacher, farmer and community volunteer, Robert (Bob) Lynn Kilpatrick, 89, passed away on Tuesday, Jul 15, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA.

A native of Bienville Parish, Bob was born in Minden to Oscar Lee Kilpatrick and Annie Mae Knighton Kilpatrick. The family lived in Taylor, LA, where they farmed, raised cattle, chickens and hogs. He continued to farm most of his life until health issue limited activities.

Bob is a 1954 graduate of Gibsland High School, a 1958 graduate of Northwestern State College in Natchitoches with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and a 1969 graduate of Northeast Louisiana State College in Monroe with a Master’s degree in Education.

He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1959 as an airplane and jet engine mechanic instructor at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. He left the Air Force in 1963 and moved with his wife, Carolyn, and three young children (Vicki, Kent and Kevin) to Monroe where he began a lifelong career in education and community service. At different times he led Boy Scout and Explorer scout troops, various community organizations, and was very active in leadership roles within the Masonic Lodge and Shriners organizations. He served as a session Elder at Graceminster Presbyterian Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 50 years, Carolyn Eloise Davis Kilpatrick, and his daughter Vicki Lynne Kilpatrick Jones.

He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Diane Smith Kilpatrick; two sons, Kent Lee Kilpatrick (Judi) of DeLand, FL, and Kevin Larry Kilpatrick (Carolyn) of Maryville, TN; and cousins, Robert James Reader (Ruscel) of Bakersfield, CA; Robbie Sue Knighton of Shreveport, LA; Robert Reader, Jr. (Danny) of Oakland, CA; Renee Billings (Herb) of Tyler, TX; and Jeb Craynor Andrews (Nancy) of North Carolina.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Graceminster Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary. Friends are invited to join the family in the fellowship hall for a reception following the service.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, consideration of a donation to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Shreveport, LA, or Graceminster Presbyterian Church General Fund in Bob’s name.
