Obituary

Funeral services for Robert "Rob" Douglas, 70, of Ouachita Parish, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 16, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, with Rev. Joseph Martina officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Robert was born on August 11, 1956, and passed away October 10, 2026. He was a retired OSHA representative for workplace safety; and a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Monroe.

Rob had a deep love for animals and inherited his mother’s kind heart. Like her, he could never bear to see an animal go hungry. He continued her care for the feral cats that wandered in and those that others had abandoned. Dogs especially adored Rob, often ignoring their own owners just to be near him.

He had a quick wit, and you couldn’t put much past him. Rob loved his family dearly, especially his brother, Mike—his lifelong partner in crime. The two were inseparable growing up. One favorite family memory was the day a neighbor called their mother to ask if the family needed help with food. Mike had been visiting the neighbors, with Rob tagging along, telling them he was hungry so they would give the boys cookies.

Rob also treasured having his niece and nephew spend the night, keeping them entertained and laughing throughout their visits. He was a loyal friend who maintained lifelong friendships, and he will be remembered with love for his kindness, humor, and caring heart.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Hosea G. and Mary S. Douglas; sister, Patricia Smith; brother, Larry Douglas; and nephew, Curtis Douglas.

Survivors include his sisters, Helen Craig (Mitch) and Karen Douglas; brothers, mike Douglas, Hosea Douglas, Jr., and Dale Douglas; nephews, Robert Smith, Chris Craig, Jamie Douglas, and Paxton Douglas; nieces, Nichelle Craig Golden, Stephanie Craig Magliolo, Heather Douglas, and Jennifer D. Foran; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Douglas, Robert Hinton, Chris Craig, Mitch Craig, and Paxton Douglas.
