Obituary

A memorial service celebrating the life of Ronald Gene Gooden, Sr., 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, September 10th, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.

The visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Ronald was born on November 21st, 1941, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2026, in Monroe, Louisiana.

Ronald passed away leaving a legacy of service, devotion, and quiet strength. A proud United States Marine, he served four years and spent eighteen months patrolling the DMZ during the Korean Conflict.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, brother, and friend. Ronald will be remembered for his courage, his steadfast character, and the deep love he carried for his family.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hazel Gooden; parents, Buddy and Opal Gooden; brother, Bobby Wayne Gooden; his infant son, Patrick Shane Gooden; and granddaughter, Alexis Berry.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are wife, Joanna Massey; daughters, Kelly Lewis and Anita Elliott (Buck); sons, Ronnie Gooden, Jr. (Jennifer), Doug Gooden (Brandi), Derek Gooden, and Robbie Gooden; grandchildren, Cody, Ty, Shelbie, Lane, Haley, Railyn, Shelby, Tucker, and Weston; great grandchildren, Jake, Jax, Brayden, Addie, Grady, Connor, Calvin, Landen, and Shyanne; nephew, Wayne Gooden (Sherry); niece, Dolly (Leonard); great nephews, Colt, Garrett, Casey, and Joey; great nieces, Brandy, Jamie, Carah, and Mandy; very special lifelong friends, LaDell Pate (Ava Nan) and Mike White; as well as numerous great greats; loved ones, and friends.
