Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Ronald Clinton (Red) Stratton, 89, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Mike Thang’wa officiating. His wishes were to be cremated following the service.
The visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, with a vigil wake service beginning at 7:00 P.M.
Mr. Stratton died March 09, 2024, at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Mr. Stratton was a member of St. Paschal Catholic Church in West Monroe, LA. He retired from the United State Air Force serving from 1954 until 1976, Red was also a member of the 82nd and 10lst Army Airborne units. He was stationed all over the world including Anchorage, AK, Biloxi, MS, Korea, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, California, and finally Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA. He was an entrepreneur with numerous business adventures after his retirement from the service. Red graduated from St. Matthew High School in 1954 receiving a football scholarship from Tulane University but chose to pursue his military career. He excelled in racquetball and badminton, receiving numerous gold medals in the Military Games and Senior Olympics over the years.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Rectenwal, his mother and stepfather, Arlene and Arthur Stratton, his brother, Billy Rectenwal, Jr. and his brothers-in-law, Ralph, Jack, and Pat Norman.
Survivors: his wife of 69 years, Mrs. JoAnn Norman Stratton; Children, Dr. Ronald C. (Butch) Stratton, Jr. (Jody), Katherine Marie Stratton (Mike), Robert Wayne Stratton, William Michael Stratton, John Thomas Stratton (Susan), and Donna Marie Robinson (Bruce); 15 Grandchildren, Michelle Hawthorne, Emily Stratton, Rhonda Stratton, Michael Sampognaro, Ryan Sampognaro, Kayla Sampognaro, Kristi Copley, William Stratton, Jr., Kacee Stratton, Brittney Gilbert, J. T. Stratton, Jr., Steven Stratton, Rachel Stratton, Blake Robinson, and Bradley Robinson; 22 Great Grandchildren; Brothers-in-law, Richard D. Norman (Mary Ann), and David Norman (Linda); sisters-in-law, Glynda Norman, Yvonne Norman, Kay Norman, and Joan Norman; and numerous nephews and nieces.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearer will be Slagle McGuffie.
Memorials may be made to Tunnel for Towers or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
