Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Ronda Flowers Whorton, 71, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday February 25, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Pastor Ray Owens and Rev. Chad Wood officiating. Interment will be in McGaha/Redwing Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Ronda wanted a joyful ceremony, and the family would ask you to wear your spring colors to honor her wishes.
Mrs. Whorton died February 23, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Ronda was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, but she was so much more. She traveled the world with her parents in the U.S. Air Force, living in Japan and Germany as well as the United States. During her husband’s Army career, she did it again, spending 5 more years in Germany and living in several places in the United States. She was a dedicated volunteer for Army Community Services, which provides aid to young soldiers and their families. She worked countless hours in various positions with the organization and was named volunteer of the year at Fort Polk, LA in 1984. Her greatest joy was being a mother to Lara and grandmother to her grandchildren. She was a member of the North Crossings Church in Monroe, LA
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles Edward and Nelda Jean Flowers and her sister, Rosemary Lynn Flowers.
Survivors: her husband, James Whorton; daughter and son-in-law, Lara and Chad Wood; grandchildren, Samuel Meredith, Chance Wood, Chandler Wood and wife, Kacy; great granddaughter, Emersyn Wood; brother, Dale Flowers and wife, Dana of Alpena, AR, Sisters, Judy Edwards and husband, Mark, of Harrison, AR, Lisa Durbin and husband, Kerry of West Monroe, LA and Lori West and husband, Coley of Baton Rouge, LA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to St. Josephs Indian School at Give.StJo.org. or North Crossings Church.
