Funeral Services Ronnie G. Ates will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 3, 2025 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Ricky Bonnett officiating. Burial will be in Holly Grove Cemetery in Wisner, LA. Visitation will be from 9A.M. until service time on Thursday.
Ronnie was born on June 10, 1960 in New Orleans, LA., and passed away on June 28, 2025 in Vicksburg, Ms. He was a member of St. Paul’s and the American Legion
At the age of 8 he moved to West Monroe and grew up there with Family and Friends. He graduated high school from West Monroe in 1978 and joined The U.S. Navy. He loved serving our country in any way he could. He served in The U.S. Navy for 21 years on active duty going out to sea where he loved it most! He retired from the U.S. Navy on September, 30th 1999.
His life’s journey went on to attending John Hopkins receiving a master’s degree in government along with Continuing his education at LSU obtaining a degree in law. Then a wonderful opportunity arose and he received a job offer working in Washington, D.C. for civil service with The U.S. Navy. Ron continued working for 25 years for civil service with The U.S. Navy. He Currently worked for The U.S. Navy Defense Finance & Accounting Dept in Millington, TN
Ron loved his Wife & Family Dearly. He loved LSU football Go Tigers!, LCU and The Saints! He also enjoyed the Washington Nationals (NHL). He Loved all things history and enjoyed visiting battlefields & Museums. He knew how to tell stories and make others laugh. He was a music lover, especially loved 70/80s Rock!
He recently moved to Vicksburg, MS to enjoy retirement! Ron will truly be missed by his loving family.
Preceded in death by His Father James C Ates, Mother Beulah P Walker and Siblings Cameron Moore, Juanita Walker, Joyce Dodd, Melba Dorothy and James Moore.
Survivors: His Loving wife Marguerite Ptak Ates of Vicksburg, Daughters: Christina A Ates Hudgins(Jonathan) & Ashley N Ates Cagle (Jacob). Step children: Alicia West (Bobby), Sarah M Moore (Dusty), Todd A Maloy, Nataniel J Nichols from many states. Grandsons: Parker West & Jacob A Moore Siblings: JoAnne Morehead, Edmond Moore and Jerry Moore. His beloved schipperke Molly (dog).
Pallbearers: Jacob Cagle, Jonathan Hudgins, Joe Horvath, Rollin Smith, Todd Maloy
