Sunset, Louisiana

Ronnie Joseph Huff, 72, of Sunset, Louisiana, passed away on February 9, 2026. Born on November 12, 1953, in Delhi, Louisiana, to the late Tommie Lee and Olite Romero Huff, Ronnie lived a remarkably full and vibrant life. A true light in this world, Ronnie was the life of every party and could instantly brighten any room he walked into. Gregarious, generous, and endlessly energetic, he never met a stranger. To Ronnie, nearly everyone he met was a "cousin," and his outgoing, worldly nature earned him a vast network of loyal, dedicated friends.

Ronnie’s early life was filled with sports of every kind. His athletic abilities and competitive nature served him throughout high school at St. Frederick’s where he excelled on the baseball, football, track and basketball teams which lead him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024. He went on to play baseball at Northeast Louisiana University where he was a four year starter.

His career in the packaging industry allowed him to travel the globe, making fast friends across the world from Louisiana to France. Ronnie’s crowning workplace achievement being the invention of the Enforcer for packaging handles. His children fondly remember every trip to the grocery store with dad “testing” beer carton handles, as “market research”, leaving ripped handles all along the aisle. When he wasn’t working or traveling, Ronnie was a man of diverse passions. He loved the thrill of horse racing, the quiet peace of the outdoors while hunting, and passionately cheering on LSU sports. Above all else, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his older brother, Tommy Huff, Jr. He will be deeply missed by his beloved children: his son, Taylor Huff; his daughter, Salley Huff and her husband Daniel Chadwick; and his daughter, Lauren Smith and her husband Bryant Smith. His legacy of joy and generosity lives on in his grandchildren: Lachlan Chadwick, Adair Chadwick, and Reid Smith. He is also survived by his friend and former spouse, Tracey Huff. Ronnie’s deep family roots were a cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind his devoted sisters, Dianne Spurlock and her husband Ronald, Tammy Gable and her husband Mark, and Terri Spencer and her partner Michael Cencer. He was a proud and loving uncle to Hope Sifuentes, Stephanie Eppinette, Marcus Huff, Eli Gable, and Whitney Shell. He also leaves behind many beloved great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.

A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on February 28, 2026, at the Hilton Garden Inn- West Monroe.
