Funeral services celebrating the life of Roy Eugene “Gene” Jennings will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 5, 2025 at Forsythe Church of Christ with Bro. John Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. The visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
Roy Eugene "Gene" Jennings, 82, of West Monroe, Louisiana was born on August 10, 1942 and passed away on February 1, 2025. He resided in Calhoun, Louisiana, where Eugene was one of four children raised by his mother, Grace. After losing his father at age five, Eugene and his family faced significant challenges, but with the support of extended family, they persevered. These early experiences shaped Eugene's strong character and unwavering faith that guided him throughout his life.
Following high school, Eugene pursued technical education in drafting, welding, and sheet metal work. His exceptional craftsmanship and dedication quickly earned him a stellar reputation among general contractors, leading him to establish Delta Flashing and Sheet Metal. As a business owner, Eugene was known for his commitment to honest work and genuine care for his employees. He took particular pride in mentoring young craftsmen, sharing his expertise generously by helping many build lifelong careers in the trade.
Eugene shared forty-one loving years with his wife, Ginette, whom he affectionately called his "sweetie." Together they explored the world, enjoyed weekend road trips, and when they were not out exploring, he enjoyed quiet evenings at home on the back deck listening to the birds and enjoying the beauty of the trees and landscaping that he built. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident throughout their home, which he lovingly expanded and enhanced over the years, creating a beautiful sanctuary for he and his wife. He found great joy in tending to his farm, where he raised show horses, goats, and chickens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginette Jennings; parents, Roy IW and Grace Jennings; and siblings, James Jennings and Evelyn Dell Lenard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ellen Jennings Kay and husband, Keith; sons, Stephan Jennings and wife, Kimberly, and Eric Jennings and wife, Abby; grandsons, Lance Kay and wife, Chelsea, and Lucas Kay and fiancé, Jacqueline; brother, Marion Al Jennings and wife, Anita; sister-in-law, Frances Jennings; and numerous other relatives.
Eugene will be deeply missed and remembered for his giving nature, engaging conversations, unwavering strength, boundless generosity, and devoted love for family and friends.
