Bliss and ran the First Guided Missile Program during the Korean Conflict. On November 15, 1951, Roy married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn LaMonica After the end of his Army Service, he and Joann returned to Monroe and  he resumed working at Bakers Shoes where he eventually became the Store Manager.  In 1966 he made a career change and began working with his father in his Service Station Business.  Roy owned and operated the Exxon on North 18th Street for over 20 years.

Roy and JoAnn were married for 61 years and had 3 children. Joann preceded him in death just over 10 years ago.  Roy moved to St. Joseph’s Assisted Living in 2019 and quickly became very popular with the staff and residents.  He had a beautiful singing voice and he loved to bless everyone with a Happy Birthday serenade; a Peppermint or a package of Oreos.

Roy is survived by his and JoAnn’s three children, Monica Long and her husband, Charlie of Covington, LA; Frank E. Scalia and his wife, Myra of North Little Rock, AR; and Michelle Conti and her husband, Gerald of Monroe, LA,  He is also survived by his daughter, Teresa Gedney of Dover, Delaware.  Also surviving Roy is his faithful and longtime caregiver and daughter in love, Angela “Ann” Marie Johnson “Scalia” as he fondly called her.
