January 14, 1938 — February 20, 2024

Sara Del Stevens Cameron

Sara Del Stevens Cameron, 86, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 20, 2024, after a short illness.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe, LA. with Rev. Perry Culver officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Interment will be at the City of Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, AR.

Sara was born January 14, 1938, in Little Rock, AR, but lived most of her young life in Magnolia, along with her younger sister Laura. She was the first child of James Curtis and Betty Stevens where she enjoyed small town life, played the organ and piano since she was nine years old and was a cheerleader and active participant at Girl’s State while in high school. She attended All Saints Episcopal Jr. College and finished her degree at Centenary in Shreveport, LA, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was a judicial assistant for the 4th District Court, Ouachita Parish.

Sara and her lifelong love, Sydney, met at Camp Mitchell Episcopal church camp on Mt. Pettit Jean in Morrilton, AR. They were married for 64 years and proudly raised three children, Betsy, Malcolm and Matthew.

Sara was an integral part of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years, playing the organ and piano, and singing in the choir. Full of joy, quick to laugh and share a smile, Sara was known for her sweet phone calls and letters. If you knew her, you probably received one in her distinctive cursive writing. She always knew what to say to encourage others and lift their spirits.

Outside of church and home, Sara treasured visiting her beloved hometown of Magnolia, especially with all the family gathered there to attend the Magnolia Blossom Festival and Steak Cookoff. She was a faithful wife and loving mother and a friend to many. She knew no strangers. She will be missed by all.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents James Curtis and Betty Stevens; half-sister Occo Jane; granddaughter Ashlynn Mercer Cameron; son Matthew Stevens Cameron; and brother-in-law Dr. James D. Boyd.

A devoted Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandma, Mona and Nonna, Sara is survived by her husband Sydney A. Cameron, Jr.; daughter Eleanor Elizabeth “Betsy” Cameron of Monroe, LA; son Malcolm Cameron and wife Karen of Prentiss, MS; daughter-in-law Patricia Cameron of Monroe, LA; grandchildren Christy Ann Gray and husband Jeremy, Jessica Lynn Flood and husband Cody, Samantha Earley Chisholm and husband Chris, Connor Allen Cameron, Garrett Stevens Cameron and Parker Martin Cameron; and great-grandchildren Judah, Elliott and Ada Ruth; sister Laura Stevens Boyd; sister-in-law Edith Cameron McMillen; many nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.

Memorial gifts can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
