Private Family Services for Sara Mayo Spencer, 94, of Monroe, will be held at the family cemetery in Catahoula Parish.
Mrs. Spencer was born September 5, 1924 and passed away March 18, 2019. She was a longtime volunteer with AARP and the Monroe Council on Aging, where she helped countless seniors navigate the world of Medicare. Mrs. Spencer also owned Adele’s Ceramics and Daisy’s Dollhouses. She was also a teacher and librarian.
Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. L C Spencer; and three sisters, Elizabeth Roach, Linda Altenberg, and Dr. Rowena Spencer.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Jacob (Jesse), Elizabeth Graham (Sam), and Sara Cotton (Bill); one son, Jack Folk, Jr. (Melanie); twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She also had a special friend and caregiver, Sherri Evans.
Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Relief and Development or Jehovah’s Witnesses at JW.org or your favorite charity.
