Memorial Park Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum
Starts at 2:00 pm (Central time)
November 14, 1946 - April 19, 2026
Sara Elizabeth Penton, 79, left this world on April 19, 2026, surrounded by the love she spent her whole life
giving. Born on November 14, 1946, Sara was a woman whose strength was quiet but unmistakable - the kind
of strength that held families together, steadied storms, and made people feel safe simply by being near her.
Sara lived her life with a gentle spirit and a deep loyalty to the people she loved. She raised her children with
patience, humor, and a fierce devotion that never wavered: Amy Elizabeth Green (spouse Terry), Treesa Jan
Barthelemy (spouse Charlie), and Brian Penton (spouse Shelly). She taught them resilience, kindness, and how
to keep going even when life felt heavy.
Sara is survived by her sister, Peggie Gibbins.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Carroll Sr. and Lillian Albina Carroll, her brother Ray Clifford
Carroll Jr., and her sister Linda Kay Carroll. She carried their memory with her always.
Her grandchildren - Case, Rebecca, Adam, Corey, and Ty - were her pride and joy. She celebrated their
victories, encouraged their dreams, and loved them each in the way only a grandmother can. And when her
great-granddaughters, Kayzleigh and Natalie, came into the world, they brought a new kind of light into her
life - a soft, sweet joy that she cherished deeply.
Those who knew Sara will remember her steady presence, her quiet humor, her gentle wisdom, and the way
she made everyone feel cared for. She didn't need attention or recognition - she simply needed her family
close. Her love was her legacy, and it lives on in every person she touched.
A memorial service will be held on May 23, 2026, at 2 PM, at Memorial Park Cemetery and Chapel
Mausoleum, Hwy. 80, Monroe, Louisiana 71203, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of her life.
