Sister Mary Ann went home to the Father on Monday, March 4, 2024. She was born July 18, 1948 in Converse, Louisiana. Sr. Mary Ann entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady on August 15, 1968 and was first assigned to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge and has served the past 49 years at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. She made her Perpetual Profession on May 11, 1976.
Sr. Mary Ann always knew that she would serve God at an early age. Since there was a need for nursing at St. Francis Medical Center, she completed her LPN studies and began her career as a nurse. Caring for her patients, she learned to listen well which allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of the suffering in this world and a deeper reference for life and the love that Jesus has for each of us. She also focused on her duties as a Sacristan at the Hospital’s Chapel which she felt allowed her more time in His presence. She was certified as a Pharmacy Technician, after an injury in 1985. and worked in the pharmacy for many years. She served on the Medical Center and Foundation boards where she helped to make many changes in the care of people in Northeast Louisiana.
Sr. Mary Ann truly loved her Franciscan life. She always felt it gave her a great source of strength, peace, and joy in her spiritual journey with the Lord and the Franciscan Sisters.
