Stephen Allen "Red" Fincher

April 17, 1961 — November 11, 2025

Stephen Allen “Red” Fincher, age 64, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a short but courageous battle with liver and bile duct cancer.

Steve was born and raised in Monroe, where he made lasting memories and lifelong friendships. He had a heart as big as his personality and was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need — a true example of generosity, kindness, and heart.

A proud alumnus of Neville High School, Steve was a star quarterback known for his leadership both on and off the field. He continued his love for the game playing football at Hinds Junior College. Later, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in Germany.

Steve’s greatest joy came from being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether cheering them on, sharing stories, or simply being “PeePaw,” his love for them was immeasurable and unwavering. He enjoyed watching football, playing the ponies at the horse track, and hosting crawfish boils. He loved having big Sunday lunches at his MeMaw’s house — feeding the whole family and filling the room with laughter.

He is survived by his daughters, Sydney Fincher Richey and husband, Jeremiah, and Shelby Fincher and her partner, Eric Winkler; his beloved grandchildren, Carter Winkler, Roman Richey, Gavin Richey, and Sadie Richey; his mother, Barbara Worley; and his brothers, Cliff and Jeanette Fincher, Gregory and Katie Fincher, and Brian and Chardelle Canterbury. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. And always being a dog lover, he leaves behind his beloved pet Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephany Fincher; his father, Buddy Fincher; his maternal grandparents, Adele Luffey Worley and Jack Worley; and his paternal grandparents, Clois Ober and William A. Fincher.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, Louisiana on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00AM , with a Memorial service to follow at 11:00AM. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Steve’s life and the remarkable man who touched so many hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Neville Tiger Gridiron Club, or any charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Allegiance Hospice for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Steve’s final days.

Steve will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, humor, and the love he poured into those around him. His spirit, laughter, and generous heart will live on through the many lives he impacted.
