Susan Trichel Hastings

Susan Lynn Trichel Hastings joined the Lord and other loved ones who had previously passed before her on February 12, 2023. Susan passed with her daughters and loving partner by her side after 68 years of age. Susan was a wonderful mother, homemaker, and friend to many. She had a smile that could light up any room and her spirit was a genuine blessing. Susan had a great passion for decorating and was always ready to open her home and kitchen to friends of all ages. 

Susan graduated from West Monroe High School in 1972. She went on to further her education with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design at Northeast Louisiana University. 

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Shelton Trichel and Claudia Ann Cage Trichel; and brother, Joseph Shelton Trichel Jr. 

She is survived by her loving partner, Kenneth Deal; her children, Jennifer Lynn Hastings and fiancée Matthew Hammett, and Sarah Shelton Hastings Crook and husband Chet; grandchildren, Beau and Bennett Crook; brother, Paul Trichel and wife T.C.; nephew and niece, David Trichel and Jessica Trichel; and sister, Kristin Bruyere. 

Our family would like to extend thanks to Elara Caring Hospice and her high school friends for all of their support. We would like to extend an extra special thanks to her caregiver, Betty Elmore. 

Susan was always such a giving person, so in lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her legacy will continue. 

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Deal, Chet Crook, Matthew Hammett, and Buddy Wade.
