Terry Stansbury LaForge

2 Timothy 4:7-8

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

Terry Stansbury LaForge, affectionately known as Tee to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center.  She was born on December 10, 1957, in Farmerville, Louisiana, the oldest of three children born to Dalton Travis Stansbury and Joy Davis Stansbury.  Terry graduated from West Monroe High School and then attended and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a B.A.  After a successful career in the banking industry, including working for several local community banks and as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Terry and her dedicated husband Robin set out on a new adventure that became their life’s work: opening a restaurant.  Together they have successfully run the Cheniere Shack Restaurant for the last 30 years.  Terry was known for her strong work ethic and passion for creating a wonderful dining experience for the restaurant’s many customers.  Her baking skills were unmatched, as people drove from many miles around for her famous coconut cake, among other delicious creations.  Aside from her many culinary talents, Terry was a dedicated and trusted friend and confidant to many throughout the years, and the kindness and generosity she showed to all of those who were lucky enough to know her was a remarkable testament to her Christian faith.  Her laugh and playful sarcasm were unforgettable, putting everyone around her at ease.  She will be missed dearly by all that knew her. When not bringing joy to others through her work at the restaurant, Terry enjoyed relaxing at home with family or going to “piddle” around town.  She loved reading a good book and listening to music, especially the old Motown hits.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Robin, and each year she looked forward with great anticipation to “vacay” with her daughter and three grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.  Terry is preceded in death by her father, Dalton Travis Stansbury.  She is survived by her mother, Joy Davis Stansbury; her husband of 45 years, Robin Dale LaForge; her daughter, Megan LaForge Gendron and husband, Joe Gendron; her three loving grandchildren that she adored, Macy Gendron, Sam Gendron, and Maddie Gendron.   Terry is also survived by her brother, Jerry Ray Stansbury and wife, Sandy Stansbury; and her sister, Tyeece Stansbury Hendrix.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Davis, Steve Fields, Joe Gendron, Sam Gendron, Tony Gilley, and Otis Hodge.
