Thomas Michael "Mike" Bonnette

Thomas Michael Bonnette, age 69, formerly of Monroe passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, after a brief illness. 

"Mike" was born December 9, 1953, to parents Jefford and Elsie Bonnette of Winnsboro. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School in 1971 and was voted Senior Class Favorite. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1976 to become a professional civil engineer. At Tech, he became a small engine pilot and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Eta Zeta Chapter. He worked summers for the Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative climbing poles and pulling lines. As a civil engineer, he worked for the state of Louisiana DOTD, GRW Engineers of Kentucky, the Soil Conservation Service, the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport, the Monroe Regional Airport, the Poverty Point Reservoir, and various municipalities in design and watershed projects. With over 30 years of dedication and service, Mike retired from Denmon Engineering Company in 2019. Mike enjoyed all lake and boating activities, especially when sharing them with family and friends. He loved fishing, hunting and traveling with friends for sportsman events. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Jefford and Elsie Bonnette of Winnsboro. He is survived by daughter, Rachel E. Harper and husband Steve of Maurepas, Louisiana; daughter, Lauren B. Clack and husband Andrew from Rayville, Louisiana; grandchildren, Holland Harper, Hudson Harper, Phineas Clack and York Clack; brother, Jeffrey Bonnette and wife Debbie of Denham Springs, Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Mike’s daughters would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Francis Medical Center ER and CCU as well as Dr. James Smith.

Mike's Facebook page will remain open, and all are welcome to post memories and final words to him there. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home located at 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe with memorial service to follow.
