A funeral mass for Thomas “Tommy” Joseph Canizaro, Jr., 74, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Do Minh Vu and Deacon Chris Domingue officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Interment will follow at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
Tommy was born on August 17, 1951 and passed away on February 12, 2026, immediately following the Anointing of the Sick. He was the devoted son of Thomas Joseph Canizaro Sr. and Angelina Falletta Canizaro, both of whom he lovingly cared for until their passing.
Tommy was a beloved brother to Anthony Canizaro (Sandra, deceased), Rosie Canizaro Nix (Mark), and James Canizaro (Martha). He is also survived by eight nieces and one nephew, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews who were blessed to call him Uncle Tommy.
A graduate of St. Frederick High School class of 1970, he attended Northeast State University. His Catholic faith was central to his life. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in his youth and later Jesus the Good Shepherd as an adult. He had a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother and faithfully prayed the Holy Rosary.
Tommy was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He became a Third Degree Knight in 2002 and a Fourth Degree Sir Knight in 2005, serving 23 years and 20 years respectively. He led the Fourth Degree Assembly as Faithfull Navigator and proudly served as the Color Corps Commander of the Color Corps for many years. He also served the Third Degree as District Deputy for the Northeast Louisiana area.
Tommy was an ACTS brother. He lived his faith through service, prayer, and quiet dedication to his family. Known for his willingness to help others—especially his siblings—Tommy generously gave of himself without seeking recognition. His life was marked by devotion, kindness, and steadfast love.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Patrick Canizaro, Ronnie Cockrell, J.D. Collinsworth, Tommy Ditta, Jim Livigni and John Weaver. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
