Graveside services for Mrs. Tommie Ann Cumpton, 94, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Start Cemetery with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cumpton was born on December 24, 1931, in Shamrock, TX, and passed away on April 20, 2026, in Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Bain Word and Mary Jo Melton Word; husband, Robet W. Cumpton; son, Ronald Wilford Cumpton; son-in-law, William Glen Davis; daughter-in-law, Judy Ramsey Cumpton; and five siblings.
With her father being a carpenter, her family moved around a lot, but it wasn’t until she got to Start, LA that she met Robert Cumpton, who she would go on to marry and raise 6 kids with. She went to nursing school and got her LPN license. From that time, she worked for St. Francis Hospital on the psych ward until retirement. She and her husband were active members of Emmanuel Baptist Church for years. Gardening and crafting with her husband were her passions. She received such joy watching things grow and flourish. Everything from flowers, vegetables, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Jo Cumpton Clanton and husband Melvin, Debra Cumpton Gould and husband Ernest, Aletha Cumpton Walton and husband Randy, Gary Cumpton and wife Susie Kalil Cumpton, and Trudy Cumpton Davis; grandchildren, Meg Pankey and husband Joe, Courtenay Broom and husband Jared, Heather Cumpton, Ashley Norsworthy and husband Kris, Rachael Cumpton Osterhouse, Seth Gould and wife Becky, MacKenzie Gould, Jarrod Walton and wife April Dillingham Walton, Robbie Walton, Daniel Cumpton, Annabelle Beyers and husband Ron, and Samatha Davis; and great grandchildren, Ty Pankey, Carolyn Pankey, Cooper Broom, Audrey Broom, Matthew Norsworthy, Ryan Norsworthy, David Gould, Bain Gould, Brynlee Gould, Jaxon Gould, Sadie Gould, Maddix Walton and wife Cierstyn, Jaxin Walton, Presleigh Walton, Hudson Walton, Jayce Thompson, Ronnie Beyers, and Gunnar Beyers.
Pallbearers will be her great grandsons.
Memorials may be made in her memory to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Monroe.
