At the early age of fourteen, Mr. Wink began a career in the grocery business sacking groceries at Gentry’s Dixie Dandy and later becoming the store manager in downtown West Monroe. Years later he and his wife, Glyn, purchased and operated Green Acres Superette on the south side of Monroe until his retirement. Troy was a faithful and active member of the Bosco Baptist Church driving the church van, cleaning the church facilities as needed and other ministry needs. He loved studying his bible and worshiping with fellow members. After the passing of his wife, Mr. Wink was blessed to have a longtime friend and church member, Jeanette, to pick him up and back home safely for worship and all other church activities.
Throughout the years, Mr. Wink and his wife loved to travel. They traveled many states in the U.S., other countries and enjoyed cruises.
Mr. Wink became a resident of Ridgecrest Nursing Home, where he spent the last four years. With the care and love from the staff workers Ridgecrest became his home and family. The staff shared many laughs with him because of his cheerful fun-loving personality and quick comebacks. He enjoyed the residents passing by waving or briefly stopping and visiting. His favorite past time was watching western movies (cowboy movies) as he called them. He loved having his church family visit and his niece and husband to catch him up on everything. Of course, the highlight of each visit from his niece and her husband was seeing his fur baby, Izzie, curl up on his pillow and take a lengthy nap and sometimes with him.
Troy is preceded in death by his wife, Glyn Briley Wink; sisters, Lois Carroll and Floy Mae Wink; brother, William (Bill) Wink; and bonus brothers, Jerry Hodges and Robert Hodges.
Those left to cherish his memory are his niece, Vickie C. Sartor and husband, Claiborne; bonus sister, Martha Guidry; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
