Varda Mitchell Carden was the sixth child born to Ethel Mae (Fowler) and Thomas Andrew "Tom" Carden. He was born on Apri 5. 1953. After losing his father at such a young age, he formed a close bond with his sister "Dot", that lasted a lifetime.
While he carried a family name, he preferred to be called Mike. Mike joined the Air Force at 18. While in service, he earned his high school diploma and many accommodations as he rose through the ranks to Master Sargent during his 20 years of service.
While he was a private man he had his hobbies. He loved his country music, tinkering with electrical or mechanical things, but most of all he loved playing the stock market.
Mike passed away after a short illness on July 23, 2026.
The family wants to say an official thank you to the staff at "Cornerstone" for the care he got there, especially Micky and Danielle.
Mike is proceeded in death by his parents, and his special brother Willie Earl Carden. He is survived by older brother Roy Carden of Colorado, twin sisters Rena Mae Stansbury of Louisiana and Mary. Faye Thompson of Texas, and sister Dorothy Louise "Dot" Erwin of Louisiana. Nieces and nephews: Evangeline (J. Pat) Boyles, Edgar Erwin Ph.D., Gretchen Williamson, Rickey (Kari) Carden. Great and great-great nieces and nehews: Adrienne Boyles (Madison Boyles, Reece Corley, Hunter Corley, Ivey Gracelyn ((Corley)) Chaston), and Andrew Boyles
Burial Wednesday July 29, 2026 at Double Springs Methodist Church near Maben, MS. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers make a donation to a veteran's organization in his honor.
