Victor Roy Simmermaker reached the end of his journey on this earth and was transported to the presence of his Savior on February 23, 2026. Vic passed peacefully at home with his beloved wife and sons at his side.

Vic was born in Monroe, Louisiana on March 27, 1950 to loving parents who excitedly awaited the arrival of their only child. He had a wonderful childhood in the simple era of the 50’s on Tulane Avenue in West Monroe, playing with neighborhood friends till dark and coming home when he heard his dad’s booming voice call. His high school years were one of the highlights of his life where he created memories of drag racing, loud tail pipes, and shiny cars, as well as friendly competition for first chair trumpet in West Monroe High School’s band.

He loved hunting and fishing from an early age. Vic shared that love with his sons and best of friends. But his greatest love was found at age 22 when he met and married Colleen Womack, a young, long-haired girl with blue eyes, whom he would be devoted to for over 52 years.

Vic’s career in paint sales and service spanned 56 years. He was a hardworking, devoted employee and eventual owner of the Pittsburgh Paint Center on Hudson Lane in Monroe for 40 years. His knowledge of products and expertise in custom matching paints earned him an “unmatchable” reputation. He carried this experience to Superior Paint & Drywall where many of his lifelong customers followed him for 16 more years until his retirement in 2024 at the age of 74.

After retirement, Vic fought a valiant battle against renal cell carcinoma for almost 1.5 years and overcame obstacles that many find remarkable. His resilience on the roller coaster ride of cancer was proven over and over. He held on to his belief in God’s faithfulness and the hope that brought in the relentless struggle. He finished well the race that was set before him.

Vic was a man whose faith shaped every part of his life. He called Cedar Crest Baptist Church his home and held deep respect and affection for his pastor, Bro. Greg Clark. Vic lived with a steady devotion to God and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him. His presence brought comfort, his kindness left an imprint, and his faith was evident in the way he loved and served others. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith and love will continue in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Vic was preceded in death by his father, Roy Morgan Simmermaker; mother, Peggy Virginia (O’Neal) Simmermaker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Colleen (Womack), sons, Chad Simmermaker and wife, Emily, and Clint Simmermaker and wife, Amy; three grandchildren, Mack Simmermaker, Caylee Simmermaker and Grayson Simmermaker.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Mack Simmermaker, Jeff Roberts, Michael Ezell, Charles Smith, Corey Winderweedle, and Jason Baughman. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Kelley, Larry Cash, Bob Brooks, Howie Howard, Ken Wyatt, Karl Vorhees, and O.C. Hicks.

The family would like to express its deep appreciation to Dr. Patrick Smith for his attentive care of Vic during his medical journey.

In lieu of flowers, a gift in Vic’s memory may be made to the Cedar Crest Building Fund.
