Obituary

Vicky went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a life that reflected Christ’s love in its purest form. Her passing was unexpected and far too soon, but the legacy she leaves behind is one of unwavering faith, redemption, triumph, and unconditional love.

Vicky believed in loving people where they were at, forgiving often, and trusting God through every season of life. She loved like Jesus did- without judgment, without conditions, and without keeping score. If you were hurting, she showed up. If you were celebrating, she cheered louder than anyone. If you were lost, she reminded you that you mattered.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Martha Tyner.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Brooke & Laura Nyiri, and son-in-law, Remy Lord, and her two grandbabies, Brinley and Brayleigh Lord. She is also survived by Michael Nyiri, the father of her daughters & her “favorite ex-husband”. Though divorced years ago, their relationship grew into a friendship rooted in care and love- an example of grace and shared devotion to their twin daughters.

Vicky is survived by her brother, John Tyner, her nephew Reed Tyner, and his wife Casie; and by Greg Sims, her first cousin by blood but her brother by heart. The two shared a close bond, and Greg was one of the people she held closest throughout her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her dear “Jones cousins,” Leslie Jones and Kathryn Sparks.

Raised in Durant, MS- Vicky went on to attend nursing school at the University of Mississippi. She spent many years caring for others through her nursing career, a reflection of her natural compassion and servant’s heart.

In the last years of her earth-side journey, she entered a season marked by peace and a deep sense of calling- being a full-time Mamaw to her pride and joy, Brinley, and pursuing her passion for writing. An incredibly gifted writer, Vicky used her words to share hope and the love of Jesus. Her writing became both her ministry and her legacy.

For the last four years of her life, Vicky lived with her daughter Brooke, alongside Laura and her granddaughter Brinley. Those years were beautiful- a precious gift of shared days, deep bonds, countless memories, and a closeness that will forever be treasured.

A Celebration of Life memorial service honoring Vicky will be held on: Thursday, December 18th at the 1900 Club in Monroe, La. (1900 Pine St., Monroe, La).

A ‘Come-As-You-Are Gathering & Visitation will begin at 4PM, with Celebration of Life Service from 5:00 to 5:30.

This space & her recovery community was especially meaningful to her, as it was where she found beautiful friendships and a true sense of belonging- making it a meaningful place to gather in remembrance.

Vicky was clear about how she wanted to be remembered. She once said, “When it’s my time to leave this world, I don’t want a sad, sobby funeral. I want you to celebrate my life- because I know exactly where I’m going.” That confidence came from her unwavering faith and her certainty that she was going home to be with Jesus.

Though we grieve her absence deeply, we rejoice in knowing she is now whole, healed, and home- finally hearing the words she lived her life for:

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
