Weba, 93, was born August 17, 1930, in Springhill, LA, and moved to Monroe as a child. She passed away on March 6, 2024, at her home in Cadeville, LA where she lived since 1977. She was loved greatly by her family and was surrounded by their love till her last moments of life.
Weba's spiritual journey began with her baptism in the name of Jesus Christ at the So. 2nd St. First United Pentecostal Church of Monroe, and she was an active member of the Apostolic Restoration Church in West Monroe. Her faith was not just a Sunday practice; she embodied it through her active involvement in teaching Sunday School, nurturing the spiritual growth of others.
Beyond her religious life, Weba dedicated decades to Montgomery Ward, exemplifying commitment and diligence as a long-time employee. However, her most profound commitment was to her marriage with Gerald Dewitt Moody, a union that lasted 70+ years until his passing in 2018. Their partnership stood as a beacon of love and devotion, inspiring admiration from their children, family, and friends.
Weba's interests extended beyond the walls of her home and church. She found solace in the pages of books and the beauty of her garden, cultivating both her mind and the earth with care. Moreover, she cherished moments spent fishing alongside her husband, brothers, children, and grandchildren, creating cherished memories of togetherness and joy. In all aspects of her life, Weba exemplified grace, dedication, and love, leaving a lasting legacy of faith, family, and cherished moments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lovid Busby Smith and Ruthie Mae McDonald Smith; husband, Gerald Dewitt Moody; sisters, Mattie Mae Smith, Ruth Willien Smith, Alvis Y’Vone DeMoss, Nelwyn LaVerne Telano, Elizabeth Ann Smith, and Verdie Lee Burgess; brothers, Abner Lavelle Smith and Bobby Neal Smith; two infant siblings; two grandsons, Shiloh Foster and Richy Moody; one great-grandson, Gerald Dewitt Moody IV “Mickey.”

Smith; sons, Gerald Dewitt Moody Jr. “Jerry” (Ebbie), Mike Moody, Steve Moody (Renee), Ricky Moody (My); daughter, Becci Sessoms (David); 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
