Wendell Thomas Betts, a man of deep faith, a generous heart, and fierce loyalty, passed away far too young, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength.

His departure came much too soon, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

A loving father and grandfather, Wendell's life was grounded in his devotion to his family and God. He was also the proud companion of his service dog, Benno, whose loyalty reflected Wendell's own. A proud Army veteran, Wendell was a patriot through and through-always ready to lend a hand or share a story with a fellow service member, no matter the uniform they wore.

Wendell had a remarkable ability to find humor in any situation-especially his own jokes and his laughter was a gift to those around him. He enjoyed spending time on the computer and TV, but the outdoors truly called to him. He loved to hunt and fish, and was happiest surrounded by all the critters, both big and small, that made the wilderness feel like home.

A master behind the smoker and just as skilled in the kitchen, Wendell loved to cook and bake. He didn't claim a favorite dish-he simply loved to eat and share meals with those he cared about.

Yet above all, Wendell's greatest joy may have been the open road. His motorcycle was his freedom, his peace, his thrill. Whether riding through mountains or swamps, he cherished the feeling of his knees in the breeze. Now, Wendell takes one final ride to join his loved ones in the eternal fishing grounds of Valhalla. He does not fear the valley, for he is the shadow.

Gone too soon but never forgotten.
